In an effort to maintain a secure, calm, healthy environment for all, the following policies are in effect at The Dance Centre.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR COOPERATION
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR COOPERATION
REGISTRATION
Pre-Registration is required! Many of our classes filled up last season- be sure to register today!
Registration through our new Parent Portal is required.
There is a non- refundable fee per student or per family, due at the time of registration. The Registration Fee does not apply for Adult Classes.
*Students beginning late due to other activities may be required to schedule private sessions while joining a class unless schedules allow attendance in an equivalent class for the interim. These decisions will be at teacher discretion.
During the year, any student dropping class for more than 4 consecutive weeks, provided they are accepted back, will be charged a Re-Registration Fee of $60.
In addition, a minimum of two ½ hour private sessions, per class, are mandatory.
Should a serious illness or injury keep a student from practice, a physician’s release will be required before resuming class. Instructors have the final say if the student’s abilities have been altered and they may be dropped from all or part of a dance. The dancer’s safety and time remaining before a performance will be considered.

CLASS PLACEMENT
Our ages and levels posted are a guide to choosing classes. The Dance Centre reserves the right to determine a proper placement based on skill level of the student at the time of enrollment. Adjustments can be made through the season to best serve the success of the dancer and is at teacher discretion. If you have any questions place do not hesitate to contact us and we will help you find the class that is the best fit for your dancer!
UNIFORMITY
Each class at The Dance Centre requires a specific uniform. Our Uniform Policy includes specific brands, styles, and colors of dancewear items including leotards, tights, and shoes. Please refer to our Uniform Policy on our webpage to determine what your dancer needs to wear for class and how to purchase.
We always recommend consulting with a teacher before purchasing new dancewear.

TAKING CLASS
• The Dance Centre will open at least five minutes prior to the first scheduled class of the day to allow dancers to enter and prepare for class.
• The Den is for all dancers to keep their belongings. Bathrooms should be used for changing clothes, not The Den.
• Dancers cannot bring their cell phones into the dance rooms unless approved by a teacher.
• Parents are welcome to wait in our lobby or hallway during class time, but it is not required. We have many class assistants to assist younger dancers!
• At times, we will invite parents in to watch their child’s classes. The intention of these observation classes is to see dancer progression and to hear class/studio announcements. We urge you to attend these!
• Absolutely no shoes that have been worn outside can enter our dance rooms.
• Parents: at drop off and pick up, please do not allow your child to run into the parking lot or meet you at a different location.

STUDIO COMMUNICATION
We use email to communication with our families. At registration, please provide your best email address for this. Within our parental portal, be sure to select “send emails to family.” From time to time, a parent or student might find it necessary and helpful to discuss progress, class placement, or incident. Please do not disturb teachers during class other than for an emergency. Teachers are in the classrooms teaching and every dancer deserves focus and attention of their teacher during scheduled class time. Personal phone calls or contact with teachers or staff through social media is not acceptable. In addition, the short time before and after class does not allow time for such discussions. Much of the time, our teachers teach their classes back-to-back and are en route to another scheduled class. We welcome the opportunity to be of help and service to you. To request a phone call or meeting so that we can dedicate our attention appropriately, please reach out to us through the parent portal, at (248) 486-0410, or direct message us on our Facebook page.
Please remember that each child is an individual, unique in every way. We expect each of them to work to the best of their ability. Talent cannot be forced. Each deserves respect and admiration for what they do achieve. The Dance Centre must be a safe and happy place for all. Negative and malicious behavior including, but not limited to, rumors, gossip, assumptions, and misrepresentations will not be tolerated and are cause for dismissal. This includes all forms of social media. There will be zero tolerance for any disrespect shown to any teacher, guest choreographer, or to any student.

All fees, including late fees, must be paid in full prior to costume orders, competitions, ticket sales, and rehearsals for participation in dance performances.
The Dance Centre inc. reserves the right to refuse services to any student, at any time, who is disruptive or disrespectful to the rights and privileges of others. Prior to refusal of services, student and parent will be advised of the impending problem with attempts to resolve. Unpaid balances are due upon dismissal.

WEATHER RELATED CANCELLATION
We do not follow the school district’s policy regarding bad weather as often road conditions can change throughout the day. Should it become necessary to cancel, a notice will be emailed and posted on our Facebook and Instagram as soon as possible. We understand families may choose to not attend class for weather related reasons as conditions can vary by commutes. We want all our dancers, teachers, and families to be safe. Tuition has been calculated to include a reasonable number of weather-related cancellations. In a rare instance we go beyond a reasonable allotment, we will schedule a make-up class.
