If your dancer is interested in our Mini Ensemble group (open to dancers at our 9-11 Mini level)- please just reach out to us.
About:
As a member you will learn and perform at least two additional dances. Mini Ensemble members will perform these dances in our Nutcracker, year end recital, competitions, and other small local shows. This is a great opportunity for students wishing to do more with dance and the first step in one day becoming a member of our Junior, Senior, or Advanced Ensemble groups. The Dance Centre inc. does not focus on competing, however, we do recognize additional dance experiences in moderation are a lot of fun, aid in developing future dancers, and help build camaraderie.
We are looking for dancers who are dedicated, willing to work hard and practice independently. Attendance, appearance, attitude and teamwork are very important. In addition, students should be able to take correction well with the understanding that corrections are given to help them and their potential as dancers. These traits should indeed be apparent at ALL the classes they attend.
- Mini Ensemble members have specific class requirements. More info is in the invite letter.
- In the past, an additional costume was purchased and possibly a different pair of shoes. The Choreographer announces the color and style as soon as the costume has been selected. In addition, each competition requires a fee, per dancer, per dance. Although we know far in advance the weekend of a competition, they do not release the specific days or times until the week before the competition.
- Mini Ensemble will rehearse weekly
- Members must abide by the rules of the Dance Centre inc. regarding attendance at studio classes. All financial obligations to the Dance Centre inc. must be paid when due or your membership will be forfeited. This applies to everyone.
- Mini Ensemble may not be held each week. Inclement weather, demanding Dance Centre rehearsals and the Choreographer’s schedule may dictate the schedule. We will inform you through e-mail and Facebook in advance.
- Attendance is critical and tardiness is unacceptable. Attendance or tardiness issues disrupt the group and negatively affect choreography and the dancer’s ability and strength. Continuous absence or tardiness could lead to dismissal. If a serious injury or illness keeps a student from practice, a physician’s note will be required to sit out and a physician’s release will be required before resuming class. The instructor has the final say if the student’s abilities have been seriously altered. They may be dropped. The time remaining before a performance and the dancer’s safety will be considered. No refund will be made.
