If your dancer is interested in our Junior/Senior/Advanced Ensemble, please just let us know.
About:
Junior Ensemble: Middle School.
Senior Ensemble: High School.
Advanced Ensemble: High School.
As a member of Ensemble, you will learn and perform additional dances to be used in our end of the year performance, competitions, and other small local shows. Select members of our Senior/Advanced Ensemble may be adjudicated by the Michigan Dance Council in the winter.
This is a great opportunity for students wishing to do more with dance. The Dance Centre inc. does not focus on competing, however, we do recognize additional dance experiences in moderation are a lot of fun, aid in developing future dancers, and help build camaraderie. The purpose of the Dance Centre inc. Ensemble is to offer students who are interested in expanding their dance skills, additional technique, rehearsal, and performance opportunities. Our intent is to enrich their dance experience and help them gain confidence and artistry.
Ensemble members have specific requirements. Ensemble class and rehearsals are not included in Dance Centre tuition. Our Ensemble group also offers flexible commitment towards Ensemble class and rehearsals for South Lyon High School Pom team members. Please contact us for more information regarding Pom member flexible requirements.
Our Ensemble group also welcomes guest artists and young adults pursuing a career in dance after High School, provided they meet all the above mandatory classes through their private schools or universities. Documentation is required.
Members must abide by the rules of the Dance Centre inc. regarding attendance at studio classes. All financial obligations to the Dance Centre inc. must be paid when due or your place will be forfeited. This applies to everyone.
Attendance at all classes in the Ensemble schedule is critical. More info is included in our Ensemble letters.
Members must comply with the rules for appearance-appropriate dance wear, shoes, and hair for classes and rehearsals. You will forfeit your place in the Ensemble for non-compliance.
Members are expected to be role models within and outside of the Dance Centre. This is a character building opportunity. Members represent a great art form and are obligated by tradition and honor to respect themselves and others!
Work ethic and attitude are critical as a member. Members are expected to compete only with themselves to improve artistry, musicality, and technique. A sense of entitlement with standards and rules not applying are unacceptable.
Members are required to take corrections with good grace and be willing to work well with ALL members and Dance Centre students. When corrections are given, they should be applied immediately and to the best of the student's ability. Ignoring corrections invites injury.
Negativity and malicious behavior including but not limited to rumors, gossip, assumptions, and misrepresentations will not be tolerated and are cause for dismissal. This includes all forms of social media. There will be zero tolerance for any disrespect shown to any teacher, or fellow student. No member is to correct another student or tell a teacher what to do unless asked for their input.
Choreography belongs to the Dance Centre inc. and the choreographer. It is copyrighted and may not be used for personal performance without permission.
Choreographers have the right to use any dancer they feel expresses and enhances their unique vision of their piece. Dancers do not get to choose what dance they will be part of. Members may not be selected for a dance in a certain genre if they are not enrolled in that genre.
Should a guest choreographer be asked to choreograph a piece, rehearsal will be held around their schedule. Not every dancer may be chosen for said piece, it will be at artistic direction.
